Biography

I am a faculty at Wellcome Sanger Institute ,Cambridge Stem Cell Institute ,CCAIM and the University of Cambridge. I am the scientific co-founder of AI VIVO and also a member of ELLIS.

We aim to leverage AI and advanced experimental techniques to engineer cells and modulate their response to disease and perturbations, and translate them for diagnostics, therapeutics, and drug discovery.

I have received multiple awards for my research (see example) and have been featured in press/journals (see research). Additionally, I have been awarded multiple fellowships, grants, and scholarships, including those from Joachim Hertz Stiftung, EMBL, Meta, Open Targets, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Medical Research Council, NVIDIA, Wellcome, Wellcome Leap and Breakthrough T1D. Previously, I completed my PhD in Computational Biology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Helmholtz Munich under the supervision of Fabian Theis.

Industry experience

In addition to my academic activities, I have industry experience as a researcher, consultant, and advisor in both biotechnology and ML/AI companies. I was a research scientist at Cellarity, director of machine learning at Relation Therapeutics, researcher at Meta, and I serve on the scientific advisory board of Novo Nordisk.
